Network Mapping

Network mapping must go beyond basic network topology to be truly valuable. More than just devices and links on a screen, a network map should include meaningful information such as alarm status and performance data. And, to decrease administrative burdens, maps have to be auto-generated and auto-maintained.

dopplerVUE’s network mapping capabilities were built following those key principles and feature:

  • Multiple network layouts created at installation⎯individual subnets, all subnets and routers, and the entire network⎯all immediately available to network administrators upon start-up.
  • Automatic map updates, additions and deletions, as the network changes, without administrative intervention.
  • Image capabilities that place backgrounds within the network topology, e.g. Visio office floor plans, satellite earth images, and more.
  • Custom mapping with the freedom to add and group devices, in any layout, according to individual network management needs.

dopplerVUEdopplerVUE’s strong emphasis on fault and performance data integration extends to network mapping:

  • Alarm status indicators overlay devices and links on all maps, whether auto-generated or custom made, for easy visibility.
  • Alarm details corresponding to status indicators display below maps for quick access to more information.
  • The built-in dopplerEffect allows color-coded performance metrics to rotate across devices in a network topology, focusing attention on potential and current performance problems.
  • Many maps include drill-down functionality to trace performance issues to root problematic devices. Network mapping must go beyond basic network topology to be truly valuable.
